Affected applications: SMS/MMS, desktop and mobile users


Starting Monday, February 26th and throughout the week, there were reports of intermittent issues with sending and receiving SMS and MMS messages via the Alive5 platform. Due to one of our SMS provider's upstream carriers (Inteliquent), had an e-bonded setup at the OSR (Override Services Registry) with Bandwidth.com. There was a recent OSR true-up by Bandwidth which ended up erroneously disconnecting/disabling MMS for Alive5 phone numbers. Inteliquent and OSR take this seriously and are already in contact and working with Bandwidth to determine the specifics and then solution to make sure it does not occur again. Additionally, our SMS provider is upgrading their status to become an independent messaging carrier with their own NNID, providing them further control and prevention of any future occurrences of this issue going forward.


We understand the frustrations and inconvenience of disruptions as SMS is a vital communication channel for our customers. Disruptions do occur from time to time at the network level, and unfortunately software providers like Alive5 are affected. We've built good relationships with our SMS provider which in turn are able to achieve priority status for resolutions when disruptions occur at the network level. While Alive5 has achieved near zero downtime within our software networks, we are doing our best to prevent future occurrences at the network level by working closely with all parties.
